Yesterday I got a new surah on my favorite lists!

Bismillah.. Assalamualaikum and hi to who's reading this right now. I pray that you will always be in the grace and mercy of Allah.

After a few days I didn't post anything, so today I thought about posting what happened all day yesterday.

Yesterday, one of my murabbi came to visit my house. Her name is Kak Awin. Actually Kak Awin came all the way here from Puncak Alam to do some sharing with me because we haven't been doing any usrah for almost a month. So after we do a last minute plan, we can finally do the sharing. But yesterday there were only the two of us because of the rest of us are staying in Kelantan, Terengganu and Johor. There are also some usrati who live in Sabak Bernam but they may be busy with other things so they couldn't make it to join us.

So, yesterday we were tadabbur-ing Quran of surah that had succeeded in softening Saiyidina Umar al-Khattab's heart. So what is that surah, guys? It Ta-Ha. We only had the time to tadabbur verses 1-8 but that was enough to make my heart melted and love this surah. Ta-Ha is already on my favorite surah lists. Why? I will tell you in a moment.

Actually, if you have ever watched a drama about Umar al-Khattab, you will find that there is a very interesting scene which is when the angry Umar wants to rush to the house of Muhammad (PBUH) because he is angry with him. However, his intention was thwarted when someone told him that his own sister had riverted to Islam. Umar gets furious and goes to his sister's house. When he came to the door of his sister's house, he heard a mengaji voice. He knocked on the door aloud, and Siti Fatimah and her husband hid a piece of paper that have Surah Ta-Ha writing on it and they asked Khabbab (the guy who teaches them to read the Quran) to hide from Umar. After opening the door, Umar continued to scold Siti Fatimah for embracing Muhammad's religion. Siti Fatimah despite being beaten also dared to fight Umar and shouted "Yes I have embraced Muhammad's religion!" Umar then asked for the sheet contain Ta-Ha but Fatimah refused to give it. Umar persuaded her to give the paper, and Fatimah finally gave it to him. Umar read verse by verse of Ta-Ha and he sat down. He immediately believed that there is a great power that has created him and the whole universe. He later riverted to Islam.

Okay now let's get started verses 1-8. So here I will share the lessons I learned yesterday.

Verse 1

"Taa 'Haa."

Everyone knows that Quran is passed down to the prophet in Arabic. But when the Arabs themselves read the 1st verse, they don't understand what "Taa 'Haa" means? So one of the hikmah here is that when Umar reads the verse, he realizes that there is a greater power in this world that more power than man, and that only "power" knows what is hidden behind that verse.

Verse 2

Meaning, "We did not send the Quran to you so that you might suffer"

For this verse Allah uses the word "'Alaika" instead of "Ilaika". Ilaika brings the meaning that says Quran is a gift to the Messenger but Allah uses the word "'Alaika" which means the Quran is a responsibility. Try to understand exactly this verse. You will notice that Allah said "that you may not suffer" but what we see physically is that the Prophet's life became more extreme and difficult after he received the mukjizat from Allah. He has been ridiculed, insulted, mocked, beaten, and many other bad things that have been around him since he got Islam. What I'm trying to convey is that what Allah is saying in verse 2 is that He gave him this responsibility (Quran) to the Messenger of Allah so that he does not end up suffering "there". This is very much related to our life as humans. Nowadays we (Muslims) are in the minority. Many of our relatives are often got tortured just because they are Muslim. This is the same as the Prophet who was tortured by people around him when he spreading the religion of Allah. So in this verse, actually Allah is persuading us that He gave us Islam not because He wants us to be suffered, but the truth is He wants to help us and save us from suffering forever "there". The difficulties we face in this world cannot be compared and will never be the same as the misery that will come upon us hereafter if we not live in accordance with His law and syari'at.

Verse 3

Meaning, "Just to be a warning to those who are afraid to break Allah's command."

The Quran is a warning to those who fear Allah. Clearly, a person who is not afraid of Allah, if they have read the Quran many times, there is no function of reading it if there is no fear of Allah in their heart. "Yakhsya": the fear of the very fear that will stops one immediately from doing things that will destroy oneself.

Verse 4

Meaning, "(The Qur'an) is descended from (God) who created the earth and the high sky."

Here Allah is asserting that the Quran is descended from a great power that created the earth and the sky. So why don't you read it? If you could read a thousand of human-made fairy tale novels, why don't you read the Quran that was descended by the Creator of universe as a warning?

Verse 5

Meaning, "That is (Allah) Ar-Rahman, who dwells on the 'Arasy."

Ar-Rahman means the Most Merciful. Allah is Merciful. So we have to believe that in every trouble we face in this world, Allah has promised us happiness from that in heaven. The Most Gracious will never do anything that will bother you. He tests you because He loves you.

Verse 6

Meaning, "He is the one who has everything in the heavens and the things in the earth and the one between them and the earth and inside of the earth."

Allah is the owner of everything. So don't be too bold to go against Allah's orders. And if you want to ask for anything, just ask Allah. He knows what's best for you.

Verse 7

Meaning, "And if you cry out in prayer, then surely Allah knows the secrets and the hidden things."

Why does Allahd separate the words "secret" and "hidden"? Because if it's a secret, at least one person knows about it. But when it's hidden, it can be we ourselves don't know about it as well. But Allah knows everything even if it's hidden. When we are in trouble and need for help and a place to complain, Allah knows even when we pray silently.

Verse 8

Meaning, "Allah! There is no God worthy of worship except Him, for Him are all good names."

Only Allah is worthy of our hope. It is impossible for Allah to do bad things toward us. It is only we who have done wrong to ourselves.

That's all my sharing for you today. If i got anything wrong please do correct me in the comments section so that others will understand too. I really hope this sharing benefits all readers. <3
